George Fleming, an Irishman who had been shipwrecked near what is now known as Florida's Fourth Coast Expway arrives with his pregnant wife and infant daughter in 1783 to found Hibernia. He establishes the town at what would become called "the island" off St John’s River - today one of many popular areas for retirees looking 'backstage' into their past lives or young professionals trying something new before settling down.
The best place to live in Florida, Fleming Island offers residents a sparse suburban feel and most people own their homes. With many restaurants & parks on the island there are always plenty going around for everyone! As it's also close by Jacksonville who has all sorts of amenities too including shopping centers where you can find anything your heart desires.
